Plug Seurch into your browser or apps with a built-in REST API (in the self-hosted version).
Seurch is built on an open-source metasearch engine. The code that answers your queries is public, so you can audit exactly how results are fetched and what is, and is not, stored. Prefer to run it yourself? Self-host it on your own infrastructure.
You buy a pack of tokens, and a search costs the engines it queries, so you never subsidise an engine you did not use. No subscription, no bill at the end of the month: you pay once and spend what you bought. What you pay sits above what the engines bill us, and that margin is what covers our fixed costs; being a non-profit it is sized for that and nothing else.

A token is the unit we sell searching in. What one costs you depends on the pack you buy: 0,0028 € on the smallest, down to 0,002 € on the largest.
| Provider | Per search | On by default |
|---|---|---|
| Brave | 4 tokens | Yes |
| Mojeek | 3 tokens | No |
| Marginalia | 3 tokens | No |
| Staan | 1 token | Yes |
| World News API | 3 tokens | No |
The scale follows what each engine bills us: Staan is the cheapest index we query, Brave the dearest.
A search costs the engines it uses
Staan 1 token
Brave + Staan Default settings 5 tokens
Brave + Mojeek + Marginalia + Staan 11 tokens
Your account starts on the default settings above. You can pick the engines for one search on the search bar, or change your defaults in your settings: fewer engines, cheaper searches.
Because they charge us different amounts, and we pass the difference on instead of averaging it out: choosing a cheaper engine really does make your tokens last longer. The scale is deliberately coarse, so it ranks the engines rather than tracking their invoices to the cent, and what you pay sits above what they bill us. That margin is not profit: it absorbs the fixed costs of running the service (servers, storage, bandwidth, invoicing), which no engine bills us for and which a search-by-search price would never cover.
How many tokens you get, and what one costs. No feature is restricted and no engine is reserved for a bigger pack: buying in bulk is the only thing that earns a better rate.
6 months from the day you buy them. Each pack carries its own date, and the one closest to expiring is always spent first, so nothing is wasted while later tokens sit unused. We tell you on your plan page when a date is coming up.
Searching stops, cleanly, before any engine is called: there is no overage, no surprise bill and nothing to owe. You buy another pack when you want to carry on, or switch on automatic renewal and the first search you cannot cover buys the same pack again for you. We warn you once you have used 80% of what you bought.
Yes, as many as you like and in any size. Packs add up rather than replacing one another, and each keeps its own expiry date.
